Epson's New Multifunction Printer Adds New Dimension to High-Speed Retail Performance; Innovative QuickPass Technology Eliminates Check Flipping
Business Wire, Jan 18, 1999
TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 1999--Epson, a leader in value-added POS transaction solutions, unveiled its new multifunction TM-H6000 printer at the National Retail Federation Conference and Expo Monday in New York.
The TM-H6000 brings a new dimension to high-speed printing performance for the retail market, combining slip, thermal and impact printing in the most compact, durable design in its class. The TM-H6000 boasts the fastest print speed of any printer in its class, and combined with Epson's new QuickPass technology, shortens check processing time by up to 30 percent with its new non-flip, single-pass approach.
"QuickPass keeps customer lines moving and provides retailers with a better process for managing customer transactions with improved check handling procedures," said Bud Weist, director sales and marketing, Epson.
Fast Check Processing
Epson's unique QuickPass dual impact print head technology simultaneously reads MICR characters, endorses the back and prints the front side of the check without the need to flip the check. Retailers can now process a check in as little as 12 seconds with QuickPass.
"Unlike other printers that must physically flip the check inside the machine, increasing the likelihood of checks jamming in the printer," continued Weist, "the TM-H6000 prints both sides of the check without flipping, which significantly shortens processing time and minimizes downtime caused by paper jams and wear to the printer."
Like all Epson printers, the TM-H6000 is streamlined with added ease-of-use features such as Epson's convenient built-in mechanical forms stopper and two built-in slip feed sensors to provide extra slip stability.
Fast Receipt Printing
At 46 lines per second, the TM-H6000 delivers the fastest thermal receipt printing of any multifunction printer in its class. Retailers can maximize their marketing efforts at the checkout stand with sophisticated graphics, customized logos and coupons. Unlike the competition, there is no processing delay and all documents are printed at a crisp, clear 180 dpi.
The TM-H6000's highly reliable thermal printer has a long head life of 52 million lines MCBF. The TM-H6000 also has built-in, user-available memory that the retailer's software application can use to store bit-mapped images such as company logos, high-end photos, coupons or graphics for receipt or gift certificate printing.
The TM-H6000 has one of the smallest footprints in its class, making it ideal for high-volume retail counters where space is in high demand. Able to fit into the tightest spaces, the TM-H6000 also features covered mechanisms to guard against paper jams, coins or spills that can interrupt the printing process.
With easy paper handling, drop-in paper loading and auto-cutter features, the TM-H6000's easy-to-use features result in increased operation time with little or no training.
The TM-H6000 is available now through Epson's designated sales and distribution channels and carries an MSRP of $969. For more information on Epson products, call 310/782-0770 or visit Epson's Web site at http://www.pos.epson.com.
