Business Wire, Jan 18, 1999

LINTHICUM, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 1999--KnowledgeLink Interactive Inc., a pioneer in the development of business intelligence solutions for business, Monday announced it has changed its name to powerize.com, effective immediately.

"powerize.com represents more than just a new name for our company," said company founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edwin R. Addison. "The new name evokes our unique ability to empower, or powerize, businesspeople to get the information they need, when they need it, no matter where it is, to make the best decisions they possibly can. This change is just one of several that we have made, and will be making over the coming months, to position our company for fast growth."

"More than half of the major corporations in the Fortune 500 are already powerize.com customers," added Addison. "Our brand consolidation under the powerize.com banner will enable us to serve them even better, with a wider range of products and services." The company's new slogan is "powerize your search for the right information."

powerize.com's flagship product is the Powerize Server(TM), The Corporate Portal Machine, formerly called PerSavant(TM). With the Powerize Server, an organization can create a secure in-house information service for its employees - an intranet-based portal that enables users to conduct ad hoc research against multiple and distributed information sources, and create research agents that constantly monitor those sources for new and important information.

The Powerize Server can access the widest range of sources of any product on the market today: intranet sources including any ODBC database, Lotus Notes databases, and document collections indexed by tools from Documentum, Excalibur, and Verity; any free or paid site on the Internet, including the "hidden web," a treasure trove of valuable business and professional databases that the major web search portals can't access; newsfeeds from providers such as NewsEdge; and professional online services from providers such as Dialog, Infonautics, and the powerize.com Business Research Center(TM).

The powerize.com Business Research Center, accessible at http://search.powerize.com, is the largest business and professional information source on the Internet, with more than 32 million articles from over 8,000 publications, including information on more than 11 million companies in the U.S. and abroad.

The powerize.com Business Research Center was formed by combining the infoMarket(TM) and Newsstand(TM) information services, which KnowledgeLink Interactive purchased from IBM in April 1998.
