Clementine Wins Best of 1998 Award; Data Warehousing Tools Bulletin Singles Out Leading Data Mining Product
Business Wire, Jan 21, 1999
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 1999--Out of the hundreds of data mining products on the market today, SPSS Inc.'s (Nasdaq: SPSS) newly acquired Clementine product has been named Best Data Mining Product of 1998 by Data Warehousing Trends Bulletin. This award was announced in the January issue just after the December 1998 acquisition of Integral Solutions Ltd. and the Clementine product by SPSS.
Clementine was the first enterprise-strength data mining product aimed at business users and is consistently acknowledged by users and analysts as the leading visual rapid modeling environment for data mining. More than 250 organizations worldwide use Clementine, including companies such as American Century Investments, DaimlerChrysler, Glaxo Wellcome, Reuters, Unilever and Cap Gemini.
Clementine has established a leading position in the data mining market, and is in use in a wide range of industry sectors including finance, retail, telecoms, pharmaceuticals, utilities, broadcasting and defense. Applications are diverse and include demand prediction, customer profiling, risk assessment, turnover forecasting, process optimization, fault pre-emption and fraud detection.
"We selected ISL for acquisition because we believe Clementine is the leading model-building software on the market. This award is evidence that the marketplace agrees." said Jack Noonan, SPSS president and CEO. "The strength of Clementine's rapid modeling environment, combined with SPSS' wide range of data preparation capabilities and statistical methods, makes SPSS the clear choice for those who want to mine their data to make more informed decisions."
In 1998, both SPSS and ISL were named among the top 100 most influential data warehouse/business intelligence vendors by DM Review magazine. SPSS was ranked No. 28 and ISL No. 48 in the Data Warehouse Top 100, a comprehensive market study in which DM Review readers rate the vendors of data warehouse/business intelligence products used in their organizations.
