Iomega's 100MB Zip Built-In Drive is the Preferred Choice of Businesses; Iomega Teams with Leading PC Companies to Offer Zip Solutions for Business Storage

Business Wire, Jan 29, 1999

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 29, 1999--Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) today announced that its award-winning Zip(R) Built-In(TM) drive is becoming the preferred superfloppy solution for businesses.

Major companies like United Airlines and universities such as Brigham Young University are choosing Zip(R) 100MB drives as the preferred business solution that allows their PC users to be more productive and meet the increasing need for removable storage.

"Today, the ability to share data is vitally important to consumers and business users alike," said Bob Amatruda, senior analyst, tape and removable storage at IDC. "With over 21 million drives and more than 125 million disks shipped, the Zip drive has become a key data interchange and backup tool."

"Commercial IT managers have found that Zip drives and disks address data management issues such as personal user backup, archiving and transporting large files," said David Henry, vice president, Zip product management, Iomega Corporation. "In today's virtual organization, external partners and even some internal employees are not on the network, file sizes are growing and many companies have policies limiting the size of e-mail attachments. With all of those things, - plus the increasing pressure on bandwidth for transferring large files, such as Internet downloads and the lack of network capacity for each user - there is a strong justification for Zip drives on the corporate desktop."
