ADIC Invests in Network Integrity; Joins Leading Venture Capital Firms Investing in Innovative Data Protection Software Developer

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--Advanced Digital Information Corporation (Nasdaq:ADIC) announced today that it has taken a minority investment position in Network Integrity, a Marlborough, Massachusetts-based developer of specialized data protection software products.

ADIC joins Atlas Venture, Brinson Partners, JAFCO America Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Matrix Partners, and New Enterprise Associates, all of whom are repeat investors in this round of financing.

"This investment represents a continuation of ADIC's polpecially promising in that it provides continuous information protection for PC-LAN networks through real-time, on-line data replication on automated tape libraries. We believe this approach will fill an important need for network applications that require high levels of data protection in a continuous computing environment. We also believe thans to use a wide variety of storage devices, int tolerant data replication software product, Media Mirror, through ADIC's distribution channel. And in August of this year, as part of its purchase of EMASS Systems from Raytheon, ADIC acquired AMASS(R), a software product that allows network clients to share automated storage libraries, using them as network attached virtual storage devices. The ADIC-Network Integrity relationship also includes an agreement which will allow ADIC to resell Network Integrity software products. In addition, ADIC has active partnership programs in place with major storage management software companies, including Computer Associates, Legato, Seagate Software, and Veritas.
