Three More Motorola Processors Certified For Windows CE; Motorola Expands PowerPC Choices To Windows CE Developers
Business Wire, Jan 8, 1999
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 1999--Motorola today announced that its MPC823, MPC850 and MPC860 PowerPC(tm) processors have been officially certified by Microsoft Corporation to support the Windows CE 2.1 operating system.
These processors join the previously certified MPC821 to create a diverse suite of Motorola PowerPC processors now suitable for Windows CE system use.
Now embedded developers have a choice of four versatile, integrated Motorola PowerPC processors with the signature Communications Processor Module (CPM) to use in their Windows CE-based product designs. This opens up a much wider applications opportunity for PowerPC related systems designs.

"Anticipating the needs of our customers is the driving force at Motorola. By expanding the number of Motorola PowerPC processors certified for Windows CE operating system, we offer our customers high quality choices for their Windows CE designs," said Anne-Marie Larkin, Vice President at Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector.
The core microprocessor, the MPC821, is designed for general embedded devices and small portable computers. The MPC823 is a lower cost version of the MPC821 and is an excellent match for mobile computing devices and communication devices. The MPC860 addresses the internetworking and data communications markets as it is designed for embedded communications and networking applications. Finally, the MPC850 is a feature optimized version of the MPC860 available in a smaller package which is a good choice for high volume applications.
