ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 1999--

SiteScape Inc., a leading provider of easy-to-use collaboration software, today named Peter Hurley executive vice president of engineering. Hurley will be responsible for heading up product development and leading the corporate technology vision.

"I'm very pleased that Peter and the rest of the AltaVista Forum engineering team joined SiteScape when we purchased the product from Compaq earlier this year," said Timothy P. Butler, president and CEO of SiteScape, Inc. "Peter's experience and depth of knowledge of the Internet collaboration market and products makes him the right choice to lead SiteScape to the next level of success."

Hurley brings more than 30 years of programming and management experience at Digital Equipment - the last six of which were spent designing collaboration tools - to SiteScape. He was a primary member of the entrepreneurial project team that was responsible for designing and developing Digital's WorkGroup Web, the first web-based collaboration tool. In addition, he led Digital's participation in the Open Systems Foundation (OSF) consortium to build DCE (Distributed Computing Environment) with IBM, HP, Siemens.

"I'm excited to be in an environment that is entrepreneurial and can turn on a dime," said Hurley. "And I think it's great that Forum is finally being given the chance it deserves to truly shine. It's a world-class solution that has a substantial customer base and won many awards in its early days. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can really do now that we have the support of a company that `eats, sleeps and breathes' collaboration software!"
