Cabletron Systems to Sponsor Hands-On ATM Lab At Broadband Year 99; Show Attendees to Learn New Fault-Tolerant Methods for Developing Multiservice ATM Networks

Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) today announced that the company will sponsor the innovative "Hands-On ATM Lab" at Broadband Year 99, taking place July 14-16 in San Diego. Broadband Year attendees will have the opportunity to learn and configure the latest in standards-based ATM networking.

The theme for the Hands-On Lab and classroom will be "ATM Fault Tolerance." Attendees will use computer workstations in the lab to easily configure multiple Cabletron ATM SmartSwitches using industry-standard services. These services include redundant LNNI 2.0 (Lane Network-to-Network Interface), hierarchical PNNI (Private Network-to-Network Interface) and Soft PVCs (Permanent Virtual Circuits). These services provide reliability and maximum uptime to answer the "always on" communications requirements of today's ATM network users.

The Hands-On Lab will be offered Wednesday, July 14 and Thursday, July 15 at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. Each one-hour session can accommodate 20 people. While all attendees are welcome, IT/IS managers and network administrators will find this session most beneficial. Interested attendees should pre-register at Cabletron's corporate booth #1024 as soon as the show floor opens.
