Burr-Brown Announces Image Signal Processor for Scanner Applications
Business Wire, July 16, 1999
TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1999--
Burr-Brown Corporation (NASDAQ:BBRC) today announced the VSP3010, a single chip, 3-channel image signal processor designed for CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) or CIS (Contact Image Sensor) systems such as color scanners, FAX machines, and industrial quality-control cameras.
In imaging applications, the VSP3010 provides a direct interface between the CCD/CIS image sensor and the DSP (digital signal processor).
The VSP3010 offers the 12-bit resolution and 12MHz operating speed (4MHz per channel) necessary for three-channel color mode systems. Each channel contains sensor signal sampling, black-level adjustment, and a programmable gain amplifier to maintain optimum input signal levels. The three inputs are multiplexed into a high speed, 12-bit analog-to-digital converter.
"The strength of the VSP3010 is its versatility and unmatched performance. This product beats the competition by offering a winning combination of high speed, low power, and low cost," said Don Reynolds, strategic marketing engineer at Burr-Brown. "The VSP3010 enhances our family of analog front end solutions for image signal processing."
Input circuitry can be configured, by digital command, for CCD or CIS sensors. A black clamp and Correlated Double Samplers are provided for CCD sensors. For CIS devices, it provides a single-ended sampler and a reference input.
The VSP3010 features integrated triple correlated double sampler, 3-channel (12MHz) color mode, 0dB to 13dB analog programmable gain amplifier, 8-bit offset adjustment DACs, single 5V supply, internal voltage reference, 2.7V to 5V digital output compatibility, low power (500mW), and guaranteed no missing codes.
The VSP3010 is priced from $5.75 in 1,000 piece quantities and packaged in a 48-lead LQFP. Delivery is from stock.
