SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1999--
Buying classes, hours of expertise and even college programs on an internet auction site is now a reality. learningauction.com was opened today by The MASIE Center, featuring classes, video tapes, on-line learning and other knowledge resources.
learningauction.com is unique in that it is a totally free site. No fees for sellers or buyers and no paid advertising. Elliott Masie, the founder of the site, is donating the service to expand the learning and training product market segment.
"learningauction.com will be an on-going experiment in how knowledge assets, from hours of an expert's time to video tapes to seats in a classroom, are priced and accessed in an internet auction environment. The MASIE Center, as a learning and technology thinktank, is intrigued to see the role of demand side pricing on the explosive learning marketplace. We will also add a site to allow corporations to donate excess learning inventory to non-profit charities and governmental agencies."
Elliott Masie is the host of TechLearn '99, held in Orlando from October 31 to November 3rd and is a leading expert in the field of learning, technology and workplace productivity. He is the author of 12 books, an advisor to major governmental organizations on learning and an analyst of the learning investment marketplace.
