Sun Announces Embedded Solutions Connection; Program Gives Microelectronics Customers One-Stop Data Source and Co-marketing Resource

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW) today announced the launch of the Embedded Solutions Connection (ESC), a microelectronics data source and co-marketing program specifically designed to empower Sun's Microelectronics OEM customers who leverage Sun's microprocessor and board-level solutions.
ESC offers a range of programs and services to help Sun integrators and channel partners be more effective in reaching new customers while also allowing them to promote their relationship with Sun. Developed in cooperation with the Sun Developer Connection (SDC), ESC membership is available to qualifying companies worldwide. This program resides online at http://solutions.sun.com/embedded.

Membership in ESC is free of charge and open to all Microelectronics hardware integrators and designers creating key software or hardware products that complement a Sun-based system. Members include OEMs, value-added integrators (VAIs), and ISVs/IHVs.
ESC is designed to offer turnkey programs and services that are specifically tailored for microelectronics customers.
Programs and Services
ESC's programs and services are intended to help member companies take advantage of Sun's leadership in networking technologies by enabling them to increase demand for their own products through a variety of offerings, including tradeshows, direct mail programs, collateral and Web advertising. ESC will also help its members strengthen their business relationship with Sun through special events and technical training sessions.
ESC's offerings include: -- Tradeshows -- ESC members can purchase a pedestal within the Sun
pavilion at a selected group of industry tradeshows. Sun will
choose specific tradeshows to give ESC members the best
opportunity to connect with potential customers in key strategic
markets. -- Direct Mail -- ESC members can leverage Sun's direct mail efforts
by purchasing customizable direct mail pieces created for the
microelectronics market. -- Customized Collateral -- ESC includes programs to help member
companies research, write and publish success stories,
application briefs and unique company profiles, all of which can
be purchased in quantity. -- Web Banners -- Working in conjunction with SDC, ESC will make Web
banner placement opportunities available to its member companies.
Placements may be on both Sun-sponsored and third-party sites,
and will be provided at a discounted rate.
-- Special Events and Technical Training -- ESC will also help
member companies strengthen their relationships with Sun through
special events, including informal sessions with key Sun
executives and managers, and special "members only" technical
training sessions.
