Alaska Airlines Adopts e-SIM'S Cockpit Training Program for the Boeing 737
Business Wire, July 26, 1999
PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 1999--
e-SIM, Ltd. (AMEX: EIM), a leading provider of advanced simulation technology, today announced that a second major commercial airline, Alaska Airlines, has purchased RapidCBT's fully functional Boeing 737 cockpit simulation for its pilot ground training program.
Alaska Airlines is the second commercial airline to purchase the computer-based Boeing 737 cockpit simulator for training. US Airways and e-SIM jointly developed the simulation pilot training program in 1998 to support the airline's FAA endorsed Advanced Qualification Program initiative.
The RapidCBT courseware will support the systems training for Alaska Airline's fleet of 737-400 aircraft. The instrument panels are high fidelity simulations of functional systems whose underlying schematics are displayed. These simulations integrate sound and animation with a high degree of graphic realism to create highly effective training systems. WAVE files reproduce the engine sounds, warning systems and alarms, while Rapid Animation object files control the animation of the plane's moving parts including landing gear and flight controls. Operational systems can be studied individually or used as an integrated "console" during training.
"We see this recent commitment by Alaska Airlines as a clear signal that the commercial airlines industry is adopting PC training solutions," said Mark Winter, vice president of marketing & corporate development for e-SIM. "We look forward to working with leading airlines to help them gain the benefits of our PC-based training simulations for the Boeing 737 and other commercial aircraft."
