Pervasive Software Outranks Competition in InfoWorld's 1999 Test Center Index
Business Wire, July 30, 1999
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1999--
Pervasive Software Inc. (Nasdaq:PVSW) today announced that its Pervasive.SQL Software Developers Kit outranked major competitors, including Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) and Sybase (Nasdaq:SYBS), in the Database and Server Software category of InfoWorld's 1999 Test Center Index.
Pervasive is one of only four solutions to receive the top ranking of "excellent" in the recently updated, yearly index, which lists 52 products from leading database and server vendors. Pervasive.SQL Software Developers Kit (SDK) Version 7, a comprehensive and fully integrated set of tools that gives developers the freedom to create applications for everyone, everywhere, outranked Sybase's Adaptive Server Anywhere 6.0 and Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5, which includes SQL Server 7.0. The index can be viewed at http://www.infoworld.com/cgi-bin/displayTC.pl?/index/99/ 99idx.dat.daa.htm.
InfoWorld gave Pervasive.SQL SDK a rare "excellent" review in January, citing the variety of data access methods, programming languages and flexibility that let developers easily create pervasive computing applications across many platforms. The review also praised Pervasive.SQL's scalability, which "allows you to take a small application for one or two users and, with very few changes, put it on your intranet, for example, where hundreds of users could access it." The entire review can be read on the Web at http://www.pervasive.com/news/news/INFOWORLD-01.18.99/.
> "We are delighted to receive a top spot on the Test Center Index from such a well-respected industry publication like InfoWorld," said Ron Harris, president and CEO of Pervasive Software. "The InfoWorld ranking reflects continuing, widespread praise for Pervasive solutions, which more and more developers are turning to for the freedom to create next-generation business applications for everyone, everywhere on everything from PCs to hand-held devices, information appliances and the Internet."Pervasive.SQL 2000 provides database technology allowing developers to create applications on a variety of computing platforms ranging from smart cards, embedded devices, information appliances, client/server and Web-based applications. Pervasive.SQL coupled with data replication technology provides the tools to manage data across a variety of configurations including N-tiered, hub and spoke, and true peer-to-peer configurations. Pervasive.SQL provides the freedom to create applications for everyone, everywhere supporting every environment.
The InfoWorld Index echoes numerous accolades for Pervasive in recent months, including recently being ranked as the number two "Public Company to Watch" in Texas by Global Investors, a San Antonio, Texas financial analyst firm. In addition, Forbes ASAP's Dynamic 100 ranked Pervasive as the #3 software company in the United States. Pervasive was also recently included on the Russell 2000 Stock Index.
