Business Wire, June 15, 1999
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 1999--
Due to a tremendous growth in demand for the company's service offerings, StorageNetworks, Inc.(TM) (SNI) today announced its intention to hire another 250 enterprise storage, networking, and data center professionals over the next 12 months.
"We are a fast growing company in a fast growing market space," said Patrick Burke, director of human resources for StorageNetworks. "Consequently, we are in search of the industry's top IT experts."
Continued Burke, "Once identified, StorageNetworks offers these individuals the opportunity to move from their current back-office support functions up to the frontlines - with the opportunity, responsibility, and resulting rewards of directly impacting our bottom line."
The new employees will be predominately spread out over Boston, Houston, New York, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, and the Silicon Valley metropolitan areas. Each new hire will provide the in-depth knowledge and expertise needed to deliver the company's Professional and Fibre Channel Network services offerings.
Many of the new employees will staff and manage StorageNetworks' nationwide network of Storage Points-of-Presence(TM) (Storage-POPs(TM) or S-POPs(TM)). The first of their kind, StorageNetworks' S-POPs offer customers access to virtually unlimited data storage capacity and capabilities, giving them the ability to manage, move, share and protect their data more easily and less expensively then they could achieve on their own. Ultimately, StorageNetworks' services offer customers the ability to free-up previously constrained resources in favor of dedicating them to more business-critical applications and operations.
SNI's first Storage-POP is slated to go live in Houston, Texas in July 1999, with key regional customers already onboard. The next wave of Storage-POPs will launch in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Denver, and San Jose later this summer and early fall, with Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Seattle following shortly thereafter.
StorageNetworks' is the first and only enterprise storage services company. Building and maintaining a leading position in this untapped market space means assembling a team of energetic, market driven professionals, who enjoy working in an entrepreneurial environment that encourages new ideas, stresses teamwork, and emphasizes fun. To complete this mission, the company is constantly seeking individuals that are looking for a unique challenge and a chance to make a difference in a company that is revolutionizing the storage industry.
