Litton And Marshall Aerospace Sign Agreement To Upgrade C-130 Hercules Aircraft With Onboard Oxygen Generating System

Business Wire, June 17, 1999

LE BOURGET, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1999--

The Life Support Division of Litton Industries (NYSE:LIT) and Marshall Aerospace Wednesday announced the signing of an agreement to market and install Litton's Onboard Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) on C-130 Hercules aircraft.

The agreement, signed at the 1999 Paris Air Show, Le Bourget, France, joins Litton and Marshall Aerospace in a global effort to provide OBOGS systems to upgrade C-130 aircraft worldwide.

The Litton OBOGS system for C-130 aircraft is based on the mature, off-the-shelf F-15 Eagle oxygen concentrator with minor modifications. It supplies an aircrew of 10 oxygen for breathing, as well as provides the capability to recharge portable oxygen cylinders onboard the aircraft.

The Litton OBOGS system reduces life-cycle costs, increases sortie availability, and eliminates the need for support equipment. It also significantly enhances aircrew safety by removing highly flammable liquid oxygen systems.

Under the agreement, Litton and Marshall Aerospace will jointly market the C-130 OBOGS upgrade. Litton will supply OBOGS systems and Marshall Aerospace will provide installation kits and installation services at its facility in Cambridge, England, or through field teams at airfields around the world.

Marshall Aerospace, the United Kingdom's largest privately owned aerospace company, provides design, development, maintenance and upgrade services for commercial and military aircraft. Marshall is an authorized Sister Design Authority for the C-130 Hercules aircraft.

Litton is a leader in worldwide technology markets for advanced electronic, defense and information systems, and is a major designer and builder of surface combatant ships for the U.S. Navy and allied nations.
