New Saturn Combo CD-R Duplicator/Printer from Champion to Reduce Costs
Business Wire, June 24, 1999
LIVERMORE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1999--
Champion Duplicators further reinforced its image as a leading industry innovator with the unveiling of its revolutionary "Saturn" CD-R duplicator/printer at the recent REPLItech Conference in San Francisco.
According to Champion President, Dale Brown, the new machine, which is of standalone, table-top size and design, combines both copying and printing functions into a single unit. Not only does this concept save precious space, Brown said, but its added efficiencies will provide substantial financial benefits as well.
"Saturn cost savings are unique in that its parallel loading capability allows simultaneous copying and printing, to give you an efficient system that doesn't have the bottlenecks inherent in competing products," Brown stated.
The new Saturn unit, priced at $7,595 MSRP in the U.S., will duplicate and label a disc every nine minutes with its 8x recorder in a hands-free mode. Saturn does not tie up a computer, has a 50 disc capacity and its own color printer and operates with a simple menu driven LCD keypad.
Patents are pending.
Champion has been on the cutting edge of its industry since the advent of CD-R. Saturn, coupled with the introduction of another new high volume duplicator, seems certain to keep it there. The firm's reputation has been further validated by being named as "Exporter of the Year" by the Small Business Administration.
The company manufactures both duplicators and printer autoloaders in a price range of $1,700 to $10,000 and currently has about 21,000 units in operation. Users span a variety of applications in the promotional, motivational, educational and archiving industries.
