Agfa Corporation and Monotype Typography Inc. Release Creative Alliance CD v9.0; World's Most Comprehensive Font Product Features Broad Range of Improvements

WILMINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 1999--
Agfa Corporation and Monotype Typography Inc. today announced the release of the Creative Alliance v.9.0, the largest and most powerful collection of typefaces on encrypted CD-ROMs.
With the release of version 9.0, the Creative Alliance CD now contains over 7000 PostScript(R) and TrueType(R) fonts for Macintosh(R) and Windows(R), including more than 650 new typefaces which have been carefully chosen for their variety and versatility. Beyond the significant expansion of typefaces, enhanced font search and reference capabilities are key features of the new product.
The Creative Alliance CD v.9.0 has been newly organized into seven uniquely characterized typeface libraries to meet the needs of a diverse population of type users.

1. The Creative Alliance Exclusives Library, the cornerstone of the
product, contains 640 exclusive fonts from prominent type
designers worldwide. These include typefaces like the versatile
Alinea family from Thierry Puyfoulhoux, the beautiful Marnie from
Gerard Marischalchi, Mat Planet's provocative extended family of
fonts, Hatmaker by Jean Evans, Buccaneer by designer Bob
Anderton, and Kobalt by Leslie Cabarga. Exclusive Creative
Alliance releases also include fresh new designs from Carol Kemp,
Ray Cruz, Jim Parkinson, and Holly Goldsmith;
2. Monotype Classics Library, the quintessential building block of a
strong type library including such classics as Times New Roman,
Arial, Gill Sans, and Bembo;
3. The Adobe Type Collection, a designer's staple, has added a
variety of exciting new designs licensed from leading foundries
from around the world; and
4. The Images and Symbols Library continues to grow with modern new
image fonts.
With this release, three newly formed libraries complete the
offering of the Creative Alliance CD v.9.0:
5. The ITC Typeface Library, at over 1100 fonts, this is one of the
most vibrant and dynamic libraries today;
6. The Creative Alliance Partner's Library comprised of 1600 classic
and contemporary typefaces from our design partners worldwide;
and
7. The Creative Alliance TrueType Library. For the first time ever,
TrueType fonts have been added to the Creative Alliance-1000 of
them. Of particular value are the selection of hand tuned fonts,
otherwise known as "Enhanced Screen Quality" (ESQ), optimized for
on-screen readability, Web and multimedia publishing.

Product Features
Creative Alliance CD v.9.0 is Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows compatible. A font conversion utility also provides for immediate conversion of fonts for use on UNIX or Linux operating systems. Previous Monotype and AgfaType CD-ROMs are fully upgradeable to Creative Alliance v.9.0.
The Browser CD included with the product, allows for searching by library, typeface name, or designer/foundry. In addition to the convenient browsing capabilities, Creative Alliance software simplifies font ordering and unlocking from the font data CDs also included with the product. Creative Alliance v.9.0 is a multilingual product, supporting English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, and Japanese.
All of the fonts on the Creative Alliance CD v.9.0 are shown in the newly formatted, 430 page, Creative Alliance Typeface Reference Book. To make finding just the right typeface easier, the new reference book not only has typefaces cataloged alphabetically, it also contains a convenient stylistic cross-reference guide in addition to listing fonts by typeface library.
All the fonts in the Creative Alliance Typeface Reference Book can be delivered via the CD-ROM, or provided on diskette. Depending on geographic location, email and web delivery are also available. See "Where to Buy" below.
