Hewlett-Packard Implements Web-based PC WIN from PC ServiceSource for Pavilion Warranty Transaction Processing
Business Wire, June 29, 1999
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1999--
PC ServiceSource, (Nasdaq:PCSS) the largest supplier of Service Logistics to the PC industry, announced today the implementation of its web-based multi-vendor PC Warranty Information Network (PC WIN(TM)) by Hewlett-Packard for the processing of all warranty transactions for its Pavilion(TM) line of retail computer products.
Hewlett-Packard's Authorized Service Providers (ASPs) use the application to verify warranty entitlement in real-time, look-up and order replacement parts, and to file labor claims. PC WIN also provides robust reporting capabilities, including airbill tracking and open core reporting. PC WIN is a complete electronic platform that serves as a single, uniform standard for processing and maintaining all multi-vendor warranty claims. More than three thousand service locations across the nation representing over 250 Authorized Service Providers are now able to order parts and file warranty claims on PC WIN via the Internet.
"We believe administration of the ASP warranty program is a natural progression for PC ServiceSource since they already own and supply our Pavilion support parts," said Roger Drain, HP's CRM Repair Operations Manager. "The PC WIN tool also provides opportunities for further and future program enhancements."
Bill Shea, Senior Vice President, Customers for PC ServiceSource commented, "We are very pleased to add this area of support to our growing relationship with HP. PC WIN is the only multi-vendor warranty processing application available in the marketplace today and this endorsement by HP should move other OEMs to adopt it. This implementation is the first step toward our goal of delivering an industry-wide standardized format for conducting all warranty transactions with all OEMs."
"The beauty of the design is that it does not require an OEM to abandon its proprietary warranty processing system. PC WIN can tie into any OEM's custom system and still provide a standardized front-end interface to the ASP. This frees Service Providers from having to train and keep updated on a myriad of different applications, while at the same time allowing the processing to be OEM rules based," commented Rick Orsini, Senior Director of Information Logistics and leader of PC WIN development for PC ServiceSource.
PC ServiceSource defines Service Logistics Outsourcing as the following business processes: Freight Logistics, Distribution Logistics, Exchange Logistics, Parts Lifecycle Management, Inventory Risk Management, Parts Order Logistics, Parts Sourcing Logistics, Warranty Information Logistics, Repair Logistics, Same-Day Turnaround Notebook Repair, and Component Repair Services. PC ServiceSource provides Service Logistics outsourcing and support for more than 30 major computer manufacturers and over 20,000 service providers, and is widely recognized as the largest supplier of Service Logistics to the PC industry. PC ServiceSource has implemented many industry innovations, including the PC Warranty Information Network (PC WIN), the PC industry's only real-time, Internet-based system for multiple vendor warranty transaction processing and service parts ordering in a single, standardized format. General and financial data is located on the Internet at www.pcservice.com.
