John McFarlane, President of Sun's Solaris Software, Joins Objectivity, Inc.'s Board of Directors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1999-- Objectivity, Inc., the leading provider of distributed, scalable object databases, today announced that John McFarlane, president of Sun Microsystems' Solaris Software has been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors.

McFarlane is responsible for the Solaris(TM) operating environment and Internet software products including security, messaging/mail, ISP services and network management. Prior to joining Sun in May 1997, he spent 17 years at Nortel where he was involved in various aspects of the telecommunications business, including data networking, broadband networks, fiber-optic communications systems, enterprise networks, and network management. He holds a B.Sc. and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.
