YARC Triples Speed of Raster Image Processor for Hewlett-Packard Printers

NEWBURY PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1999--YARC Systems Corp. (OTC BB:YARC) Wednesday announced that it had tripled the speed of its Raster Image Processor (RIP) for the high-resolution Hewlett-Packard CP series DesignJet printers.

The speed increase is due to the release of a new rasterisation technology called "Superfine Stochastic" that has been in development since mid-1998. It triples the speed at which YARC can feed data to 600-dpi printers.

YARC can now drive the DesignJets in all their printing modes at full speed without needing to spool any raster files to disk. Previously, in order to use modes other than the highest quality modes of the printer, it was necessary to first process a raster file and save it to disk. Under some circumstances this could become tiresome.

"In November and December last year I visited the HP DesignJet Support Headquarters," said YARC's vice president of engineering, Dr. Karsten Jeppesen. "The insight and technical information that HP provided have been invaluable in our ongoing effort to become the best third-party PostScript RIP for the DesignJet printers."

Any computer image, whether it comes from a digital camera, a scanner or a professional paste-up, can be printed onto paper using YARC's RIPs for Epson desktop printers, color copiers or the wide-format printers that make display signage.

YARC's XP Server is an open-architecture, plug-and-play, networked, PostScript Color Server using Intel ATX motherboard technology and PowerPC-based PostScript accelerator engines. It is the only color server that can be connected directly to the Internet. The XP is equally easy to use with traditional Windows or AppleTalk networks.
