Royal Group's Innovative Outdoor Storage Product Line Off to Strong Start in 1999
Business Wire, March 11, 1999
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1999--Royal Group Technologies Limited (TSE:RYG) (NYSE:RYG) (ME:RYG) announced today that recent orders for its Royal Outdoor Product's Premier(TM) and Yard Mate(TM) storage systems total over $C8 million, signaling a brisk start to its 1999 Outdoor home improvement products spring selling season. The majority of these initial orders require prompt shipment.
Royal's unique, polymer-based outdoor storage system kits are sold to home-owners through home improvement retailers, such as Home Depot, Lowes, Menard's and Hechinger's. Introduced three years ago, the Premier line of storage sheds has been well received in the marketplace, with sales growing from 1,500 units in calendar 1996 to over 60,000 units in 1998. Ranging in size from 65 to 150 square feet, these structures can be quietly assembled by homeowners by simply sliding together engineered PVC (Vinyl) panels. Royal's storage sheds are durable, will not rot or rust, are impervious to insects and are virtually maintenance-free.
Royal has just introduced a line of smaller sheds, named Yard Mate(TM) which will compete in the value segment of the market. The largest shed in the Yard Mate(TM) series measures 50 square feet and with just 18 pieces can be assembled by a home-owner in less than 1 hour. It is designed to be more durable and easy to assemble than a conventional metal shed, and will be sold at a competitive price.
Royal Group Technologies Limited is one of North America's largest extruders of vinyl building products, serving the custom profile (predominantly window), window covering, siding (wall cladding) and pipe segments of the market. Royal's Building Technologies Group manufactures an extruded, pre-engineered, modular building system, known as The Royal Building System(TM), and product lines derived from the System including foundations, garages and sheds. Royal's manufacturing facilities are primarily located in North America, with recent additions of facilities in South America, Europe and Asia.
