High Demand for Advanced Messaging Prompts Korean Carrier To
Augment Capabilities With Additional Centigram Messaging Servers
Centigram Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:CGRM), a leading global provider of advanced messaging and communications solutions, announced today a $2.4 million agreement with South Korea-based Shinsegi Telecomm, Inc.
The second-largest cellular phone carrier in South Korea's booming mobile communications market, Shinsegi has expanded its voice messaging capabilities with the purchase of three additional Centigram servers for its Pusan, Kangnan and Kangbuk branches, bringing the company's total Centigram server installation to 16.
Centigram has been delivering messaging services for Shinsegi's CDMA network since 1996, and has expanded and upgraded its offerings as the carrier has grown past 2.1 million subscribers. Shinsegi's value-added messaging services are built on Centigram's Series 6 messaging platform, and feature innovative VoiceMemo and Fax Memo services.
In a recent survey, mobile telephone subscribers in South Korea ranked Shinsegi first in customer satisfaction for value-added services. Conducted by Seoul University's Service Lab and professional research company ISON C&CI, the survey also ranked Shinsegi close seconds in two other categories: call completion and phone charge satisfaction.
"Once again, Centigram has been a key partner in helping Shinsegi meet the high demand for advanced messaging services throughout South Korea," said D.W. Oh, team leader of Engineering at Shinsegi. "This new equipment in Pusan, Kangnan and Kangbuk gives us the capacity to serve the needs of our more than 2 million subscribers. Centigram's advanced messaging systems provide Shinsegi's cellular customers with the most comprehensive and dependable messaging services available. South Korea's mobile users have confirmed it."
"Centigram has been supplying Shinsegi with messaging solutions right from the inception of its cellular service," said Tom Rappath, Centigram's vice president of Sales and Service, Asia Pacific. "We're proud of the contribution we've made to Shinsegi's services, and delighted that they are once again expanding their messaging capabilities. Centigram is committed to broadening our presence in the Asia Pacific marketplace, and we look forward to helping Shinsegi grow in the South Korean cellular market."
