California Bank & Trust Selects Intelispan for Commercial Online Services
Business Wire, March 16, 1999
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 1999--Intelispan, Inc. (OTC BB:IVPN) Intelispan announced today that California Bank and Trust (formerly Sumitomo Bank of California) has selected Intelispan as its provider of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to deliver their commercial online banking services.
CB&T intends to provide its new online banking service to over 2,000 of its commercial customers. This service will include a variety of cash management functions such as fund transfers, deposit reporting, stop payments, bank drafts, foreign exchange and money market rate reporting, balance reporting and book transfers.
"Security is a big issue with our customers," said Ken Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Manager of Corporate Services. "And we found Intelispan's network security solution to be superior to others that we evaluated. The improved network performance was also important for our application."
Zions Bancorporation acquired Sumitomo Bank of California in October of 1998, and merged it with Grossmont Bank and First Pacific Bank, two other Zions Subsidiaries. A new entity was created through this merger, California Bank and Trust, with 70 offices throughout California. CB&T has begun implementing the Intelispan network to service all their business banking customers.
"We are enthusiastic about this financial application for our network service," said Peter Nelson, CEO Intelispan. "We hope to continue to capitalize on the increase in demand for secure IP network service as the online banking market grows."
Intelispan's service, exSPANdsm VPN operates on a private, global IP network logically separate from the Internet incorporating advanced security technology at the network level. Intelispan's network architecture, which includes strong PKI authentication, acts as a network level firewall to become the enterprise's first line of defense against unauthorized users. Priced as a metered-based service, exSPANd-PKI eliminates the up front investment normally associated with public/private key management systems and client software integration.
