Quantex to Incorporate Intel Pentium III Xeon Processors Into Workstations and Servers

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1999--Quantex Microsystems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of computer systems in the direct channel, today announced the availability of new systems based on the Intel 500MHz and 550MHz Pentium(R) III Xeon(tm) processors.
These new processors are featured in the Quantex ZXi-Series Workstations and the Quantex QX-Series Servers and are available with 512KB, 1MB and 2MB of cache.

The processor contains Streaming SIMD Extensions, 70 new instructions for improved TCP/IP and memory/cache performance, and to significantly boost the speed and performance of media rich and memory intensive applications. It also contains a variety of advanced management features, including Error Checking and Correction for data protection and the assignment of a processor number for system identification.

The Intel Pentium III Xeon processor is now available in ZXi Workstation, creating for the highest performing multiprocessor-capable workstation ever available from Quantex. These workstations feature high-end 2D, 3D and OpenGL support for graphics-intensive CAD/CAM applications, electronic design automation (EDA), digital content creation (DCC), financial modeling and software engineering. Additionally, these Quantex systems are sold as a standard network-ready solution, including industry standard initiatives such as wired for management (WFM), DMI 2.0, ACPI and QSentry Technology, Quantex' network management and PC health monitoring software.
Quantex QX-Series Servers are custom-configured and feature the Intel Pentium III Xeon processor in two-way and four-way configurations to deliver enterprise-class performance in a high-end server platform. In addition to true multi-processing power, these servers are RAID-ready, and have advanced management features like a built-in Emergency Management Port and Intel Server Control for maximum security, performance and scalability.
