Barnes Group Inc. Announces the Appointment of Cedric D. Beckett as President of Bowman Distribution

BRISTOL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 1999--Edmund M. Carpenter, president and CEO of Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE:B), today announced the appointment of Cedric D. Beckett as president of Bowman Distribution, a wholly-owned business unit of Barnes Group Inc.
Beckett, a five-year employee of Barnes Group and an officer of the Company, was formerly president of Barnes Aerospace, headquartered in Windsor, CT. "Cedric is credited with successfully turning in consecutive record year-over-year results in both sales and profit at the aerospace unit during the past four years. He is an outstanding leader with a demonstrated record of accomplishment and will be a great asset to Bowman's future growth," said Edmund M. Carpenter. The Company further reported that Edmund Carpenter would serve as acting president of Barnes Aerospace until a successor is identified.
Beckett started with Barnes Group as an operations analyst in 1994, and was later promoted to director of operations at Windsor Manufacturing, a unit of Barnes Aerospace. In August 1995, he was appointed president of Barnes Aerospace where he was responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the business unit.
Before joining Barnes Group, Beckett spent eight years at Hamilton Standard in a number of supervisory and managerial positions in program planning, operations, and project engineering.
Beckett has earned two Masters degrees from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in operations management and finance. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York.
Bowman Distribution has been an industry leader in the distribution of maintenance, repair and operating supplies (MRO) since 1927. It is one of the world's largest MRO distributors, and has grown into an international logistical management business serving thousands of customers in North America and Europe.
