American Dental Association Selects Citibank For Affinity Credit Card Program
Business Wire, March 23, 1999
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1999--Citibank today announced an agreement with the American Dental Association's (ADA) subsidiary, ADA Financial Services Company (FINCO), under which Citibank's special affinity card unit will manage and market an affinity credit card program designed especially for ADA members. The announcement coincides with Citibank's agreement to acquire the credit card business of Mellon Bank, which had previously managed the ADA's affinity card program.
The American Dental Association card will feature TravelersMiles, which enables cardmembers to earn points redeemable for free mileage in a variety of value-added airline travel programs. The ADA card will also continue to provide its members with special introductory rates on new purchases, cash advances and balance transfers.
"We're pleased to have Citibank as our partner, particularly given its reputation for developing some of the most innovative and successful co-branded and affinity credit card programs in history," said James H. Sweeney, Chief Executive Officer for FINCO.
"We look forward to providing ADA members with the superior level of services and benefits that all our affinity group partners and cardmembers have come to enjoy," commented Thomas Anderson, President of Citibank's Affinity Card unit. "We view this as an excellent opportunity to develop a loyal customer base among a group of highly successful professionals."
The American Dental Association, based in Chicago, was founded in 1859 and is the world's oldest and largest national dental association. The ADA has over 141,000 members, 54 constituent societies and 529 component dental societies. Complete information can be found on the ADA Web site, at www.ada.org.
