Cox Interactive Media Names Keith Herndon Vice President of Planning and Product Development

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 26, 1999--Cox Interactive Media (CIMedia) announced today that it has named Keith Herndon vice president of planning and product development. In related news, CIMedia announced that Ron McCoy has been named director & chief technology officer. The announcements were made by Peter Winter, president of CIMedia.
Herndon was formerly vice president of operations for CIMedia. In his new role, Herndon will head up product strategy initiatives, provide proactive competitive analysis, and lead strategic planning efforts. Herndon joined CIMedia in October 1996. Previously, he was an assistant managing editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where he was responsible for news technology and budgets. He chaired a task force that led the conversion to client-server computing in the newsroom, and helped launch Cox Newspapers' wide-area computer network. Herndon joined the newspaper in 1982 as a business reporter. He holds a B.A. in Journalism, University of Georgia, and a Master of Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma.
As CIMedia's director of operations and chief technology officer, McCoy will immediately assume full responsibility for Herndon's former technology and operations responsibilities. McCoy will oversee a team of developers, engineers and systems operators who coordinate the hosting, production and creation of tools for CIMedia's network of city sites.
McCoy joined CIMedia in 1996 from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where he administered a network serving 5,000 employees. Before that, he worked for Planning Technologies as a backbone architect for clients including Kaiser-Permanente, McDonnell-Douglas /NASA, Georgia Power and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. He started his career as a systems manager for Creative Loafing, a weekly entertainment newspaper in Atlanta, Charlotte and Tampa.
