Mag-Tek Introduces Software Utilities to Facilitate Easy Integration of Its Products

Business Wire, March 26, 1999

CARSON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 26, 1999--Mag-Tek, an international leader in advanced card solutions, has introduced nine new software utilities for Windows(R) 95 and 98 operating-system environments.

These utilities, called "device drivers," allow Mag-Tek's magnetic-stripe card readers, encoders, PINpads and the MICR check readers to be easily integrated into end-user applications.

The new device drivers are used to reduce overall software- development time and to communicate with any Mag-Tek device with the same set of application-level commands. They help application developers to control hardware devices without the technical knowledge of hardware, and support both RS-232 serial and keyboard wedge interfaces.

With the introduction of Windows(R) device drivers, Mag-Tek has demonstrated its commitment to the needs of the marketplace and its customers. The company has developed demonstration programs that are available under "software" on the Mag-Tek Web site at www.magtek.com.

Mag-Tek, known worldwide as an industry leader in technology and innovation, pioneered magnetic-stripe readers more than 25 years ago. The company also manufactures smart-card readers, MICR check readers, encoders and motorized readers for financial institutions, retailers and OEMs.

Founded in 1972 in Los Angeles, Mag-Tek has sales offices throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, with international distribution in more than 40 countries. Its technology is used in point-of-sale (POS) transactions utilizing debit cards, credit cards, grocery-store checkouts, automated gas pumps, pay phones and airplane- seat phones.
