HP Announces Upgrade for HP 620/660LX Color Palmtop PCs; Upgrade Includes New HP Productivity Applications and Microsoft Windows CE Handheld PC Professional Edition Software

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--Hewlett- Packard Company today announced an easy-to-install upgrade that enhances the functionality of its HP 620LX and 660LX color palmtop PCs. The upgrade includes productivity applications from HP and an upgrade from Windows(R) CE 2.0 to Windows CE Handheld Professional Edition software.

The HP productivity applications provide 64K color and MP3 player support; full backup capabilities; an HP viewer for enhanced viewing of PIM information; and HP quick pad, which allows users to quickly capture and organize personal data. In addition, Microsoft(R) Windows CE Handheld Professional Edition software offers users enhanced e-mail, Web browsing, file-conversion functionality and the Pocket Access database application.

The upgrade also will increase the built-in RAM of the HP 620LX palmtop PC from 16MB to 32MB to provide more space for storage and running applications. (The HP 660LX palmtop PC already includes 32MB of built-in RAM.)

All products in HP's line of PC companions, from the HP palmtop PCs to the HP Jornada 820 Handheld PCs, are designed to complement each other, enabling HP to fulfill a full range of mobile-professional needs. The HP 620LX and 660LX upgrade program will provide all current HP palmtop PC users with the ultimate tools to remain productive and in touch while on the go.

The upgrade kit (English language only) is expected to be available in early June, through the HP Shopping Village at http://www.shopping.hp.com, and is expected to have an estimated U.S. street price of $179(1).
