Internet Image Manages Internet Appliance; Compatible with Sun's Jini Technology
Business Wire, March 30, 1999
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1999--Internet Image Inc., the market leader in application deployment and management solutions, today announced its support for Sun Microsystems' (Nasdaq:SUNW) new Jini(TM) technology architecture, an instant networking solution for connecting all types of Internet appliances.
During a recent technical update session to its strategic customers in San Francisco, California, Internet Image demonstrated how Jini technology could be used in its flagship product TargetLink(R), to remotely access and manage Internet appliances. This capability enables TargetLink to perform remote diagnostics, system management, and control of the networked client.
Sun's Jini technology is a system architecture that supports a flexible, networked digital environment comprised of computing, storage, display, entertainment, and communication devices. Jini technology is capable of quickly and easily forming an impromptu community of computers and information appliances that can communicate with one another and with the network.
With Jini technology, TargetLink's Application Deployment and Management (or ADM) solution, can remotely configure or update a PC or information appliance once it joins the Jini ready network. This is particularly critical for small hand held devices such as cellular phones or PDA's which do not have an easy to use user interface. "With Jini there is now an effective way to meet users' emerging needs to easily network many different types of intelligent devices anytime, anywhere" said Andy Lee, President and Chief Technology Officer of Internet Image.
"ADM technology can help manufacturers of Internet appliances provide timely system management services for their products," stated Dr. Andy Lee, "With Internet Image's ADM leadership, we believe manufacturers will have the edge they need to service the Internet customers faster and with Jini technology, manage them more efficiently."
