Novera Announces jBusiness Integration with Allaire ColdFusion
Business Wire, March 30, 1999
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1999--
jBusiness' Enterprise Business Objects and ColdFusion Provide
Best-of-breed Distributed Web Application Capabilities
Novera Software, Inc., today announced a technology alliance to integrate jBusiness, its leading solution for integrating enterprise information with the Web, with Allaire's ColdFusion, the leading cross-platform Web application server. The jBusiness-ColdFusion integration enables Web and IT application developers to quickly create and deploy new ColdFusion applications that integrate enterprise information for competitive advantage.
"Our relationship with Allaire offers our customers a unique approach to creating enterprise Web applications," said David Butler, vice president of marketing, Novera Software, Inc. "Our complementary strengths give organizations a fast and easy way to componentize their enterprise information into powerful Web applications, resulting in faster time to market and creating new channels, incremental revenue opportunity and market leadership."
Novera's jBusiness is a distributed application and management framework that allows customers to encapsulate business logic and data from legacy systems into enterprise business objects based on CORBA and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). ColdFusion is a leading cross-platform Web application server for rapidly building and deploying large scale applications for everything from e-commerce sites to content management systems and new business systems.
jBusiness' integration with ColdFusion allows customers to quickly and easily build enterprise and e-commerce Web applications that employ reusable enterprise business objects. These enterprise business objects integrate information from diverse back-end systems such as order fulfillment, customer profile and billing applications. The jBusiness/ColdFusion integration is made possible by both products' open extensibility through industry-standard object-middleware technology based on CORBA and Component Object Model (COM). jBusiness' approach to integration gives developers access to new business logic and information encapsulated in standard software components, which complements ColdFusion's rapid cross-platform Web application development.
For example, to build an order entry application, a developer would use jBusiness to combine customer data with inventory information and create a business object. The business object would then be accessible to the order entry Web application built by ColdFusion, presenting a customer with information on order status and availability. Once created and deployed, business objects can be accessed, shared and reused by multiple Web applications. Application developers can leverage the jBusiness Application Management Server to extend and centrally manage applications and enterprise business objects.
"With the drive for business externalization mandating a strong corporate Web presence," said Mark Huey, senior research analyst, Application Delivery Strategies, META Group, "companies require improved access to back-end systems and legacy data. Organizations should utilize a connection infrastructure that can be leveraged across multiple development tools and applications."
"The new Novera jBusiness integration adds another powerful way for ColdFusion customers to use distributed objects to bring enterprise data to the Web," said Adam Berrey, product marketing director for Allaire. "With ColdFusion, Allaire is enabling a new transactive content computing model, allowing companies to radically improve the interaction between customers, employees and partners through Web-based applications that seamlessly integrate content, transactions and interactivity. The new jBusiness support extends this solution with a fast and flexible framework to create and deploy enterprise business objects."
The jBusiness integration with ColdFusion is available immediately for customers from Novera Software, Inc.
