SDRC Secures Sole Placement in GartnerGroup's PDM Leadership Quadrant; SDRC's Metaphase Acknowledged as First to Move Into the Leadership Quadrant
Business Wire, March 8, 1999
CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 1999--SDRC (Nasdaq:SDRC), a leading provider of enterprise product development solutions worldwide, announced that GartnerGroup -- a leading authority on information technology -- has moved SDRC's Metaphase(R) division into the product data management (PDM) leaders' quadrant. Metaphase is the first and only vendor to receive this industry honor. PDM is the technology manufacturing companies use to manage the design and development process, and allows engineers to share design data.
GartnerGroup defines a PDM enterprise leader as a company with more than $100 million in annual PDM revenue, growth at or above the industry average, good business credentials, and a global installed based of 400 or more installations with 75% of those being in full or partial production.
According to a GartnerGroup report dated March 2, 1999, this is a "watershed event" for both Metaphase and the industry, substantiating the strategic importance and the growing viability of product data management to those companies engaging in process improvement technologies.
"SDRC is extremely proud that Metaphase is first to enter into GartnerGroup's PDM leadership quadrant," said Bill Weyand, chairman, president, and chief executive officer, SDRC. "PDM's time has arrived. We believe it will become as important to manufacturers as ERP. Being recognized as the leader in PDM validates SDRC's strategic focus on providing enterprise product development solutions to major manufacturing companies worldwide."
