Robust New Features Include E-Mail Sync, Microsoft Outlook
Optimization and Enhanced Application and Groupware Support
Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), the leading provider of advanced Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) Management and Synchronization software, today announced version 3.0 of its Intellisync synchronization software for Windows CE-based devices. Puma received the Mobility Award for the industry's best synchronization software solution for Windows CE-based devices at Mobile Insights '99. Puma's new Intellisync version 3.0 greatly enhances its current offering with powerful new e-mail support, optimized Microsoft Outlook performance, increased application and groupware support, and added support for a leading sales force automation application.
Puma's latest Intellisync offering will immediately be available directly from Puma's website at www.pumatech.com and shortly thereafter at computer retail stores nationwide for $69.95. Owners of previous versions of Intellisync for Windows CE may upgrade to the new version for $34.95.
"Puma has made a significant commitment to meeting the needs of both our corporate customers and individual users who increasingly want to utilize these mobile computing devices in the work environment," said Puma President and CEO Brad Rowe. "By adding enhanced support for leading groupware application providers we are further enabling corporations to take advantage of the rich feature set that Intellisync uniquely offers. The evolvement of our Intellisync line also demonstrates the importance of the Intellisync platform to corporations who are looking to provide integrated handheld synchronization support for their customers. At Puma, we strive to meet the needs of mobile workers, IT staff and major applications providers who are all looking for ways to take advantage of seamless synchronization of critical information that resides in their corporate groupware. We have been extremely successful in addressing all of these areas with our Intellisync synchronization solutions."
New E-mail Synchronization Support for Leading Groupware Applications
Intellisync now adds e-mail support for importing, exporting and synchronizing e-mail messages between Windows CE devices and Microsoft Outlook 97/98, Exchange, and Lotus Notes 4.5/4.6 applications. All major e-mail components of Windows CE will be supported including inbox, outbox, filed and draft folders.
Enjoying its new benefits, corporate customers are applauding Intellisync version 3.0 for Windows CE devices. "I've been an Intellisync for Windows CE user since the first version was introduced," said Intellisync customer and early tester of Intellisync 3.0, Bryan Everly, Director of Development, Service Management, Tivoli Systems. "As a Windows CE user, using multiple applications was simple and painless with Intellisync. Now with the ability to synchronize my e-mails with Lotus Notes, this new version of Intellisync for Windows CE makes taking critical corporate data on the road a snap."
Version 3.0 Provides Outlook Optimization and Extended Application Support
Intellisync for Windows CE version 3.0 has added synchronization capabilities specifically designed to enhance its use and performance with Microsoft Outlook 97/98. Intellisync makes it simple to synchronize information in users' custom Microsoft Outlook folders with the intuitive new Folder Browser feature. Further, users can now synchronize their Windows CE devices with their Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Personal Address Book (PAB). Lastly, with meeting attendee support, Intellisync can now maintain all pertinent Microsoft Outlook attendee meeting information when synchronizing events.
This version of Intellisync also extends support to Lotus Organizer 5.0, Novell GroupWise 5.5 and On Technology Meeting Maker 5.5.2. Support for Lotus Organizer 5.0 includes synchronization with address, anniversary, calendar, calls, planner and to do sections.
New Version of Intellisync Supports SDK Customers
Version 3.0 now includes synchronization support for SalesLogix, the leading sales force automation software (SFA) and a licensee of the Intellisync Software Development Kit (SDK). Using developer tools and support provided by Puma Technology, this SDK agreement allows SalesLogix to integrate Puma's Intellisync synchronization software solutions within the SalesLogix software. This is provided to deliver support for leading mobile devices such as Windows CE devices and personal information management and scheduling software packages. SalesLogix has turned to Puma to develop their own extensions to the Intellisync platform. These extensions are included with the new version of Intellisync, so that version 3.0 can now be utilized with the SalesLogix 3.0 sales force automation system to synchronize the calendar, contact and to do sections.
Intellisync's Powerful Feature Set
The new version of Intellisync will continue to provide a powerful synchronization solution enabling consumers to keep their most important information -- calendars, contacts, tasks, and e-mail -- constantly up-to-date between Windows CE devices (Palm-size PC, Handheld PC , and Handheld PC Professional) and the broadest range of PC applications. Optimized for use with Microsoft Outlook 97/98, version 3.0 builds on Puma Technology's patented Data Synchronization Extensions Technology (DSX Technology(TM) engine), offering advanced capabilities like full conflict resolution, field mapping and filtering to ensure accuracy and reliability.
