Cisco Is the First and Only Firewall Vendor
to Receive a Certificate for Compliance
With the Common Criteria Firewall Protection Profile
Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, announced today that the National Security Agency (NSA) evaluated the Cisco PIX(TM) Firewall, confirming that the solution is compliant with the U.S. Government Traffic Filter Firewall for Low Risk Environments Common Criteria Protection Profile.
This certification by the NSA verifies the stability and fitness of the PIX Firewall and confirms that Cisco's firewall development efforts adhere to a standard that has been recognized throughout the industry.
At the RSA Data Security Conference in January, NSA Deputy Director for Information Systems Security, Michael Jacobs, presented a Certificate to Cisco's Harry Yen, manager of PIX Firewall development at Cisco Systems, and Dr. John Wolfe, network security manager, to formally recognize the successful completion of this product evaluation process through the Trust Technology Assessment Program (TTAP).
"We are very proud to receive this prestigious award from the NSA and we will continue to develop the best possible firewall technology to meet our customers' needs," said Chris Blask, Cisco PIX Firewall product manager. "Cisco is committed to embedding into the network the security solutions our customers require for building a secure infrastructure and enabling mission-critical business."
Cisco's PIX Firewall is a dedicated, scalable security appliance that provides outstanding performance and broad application support. As part of Cisco's comprehensive, end-to-end security solution, Cisco also offers the Cisco IOS(R) Firewall feature set.
