Business Wire, May 14, 1999
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1999--
Voyetra Turtle Beach, Inc. today introduced the Montego II Home Studio(TM), a PC-based desktop production system designed for music/audio hobbyists and professionals. The package will be available later this month from music dealers worldwide with an estimated street price of $299.
"Audio production using standard PCs is on an upward climb, whether for independent artist recordings or multimedia soundtrack creation," said Carmine J. Bonanno, president and CEO of Voyetra Turtle Beach. "Just as Voyetra Turtle Beach led the desktop audio charge in the early-and mid-90's, The Montego II Home Studio is a continuation of such forward-thinking. It brings a complete, professional-quality package within the price range of the average music enthusiast."
The Montego II Home Studio seamlessly integrates Voyetra's award-winning MIDI/digital audio sequencing software-Digital Orchestrator Pro(TM)-with the next-generation Turtle Beach Montego II sound card.
Recording and output signals are extremely clean, utilizing 18-bit digital-to-analog (DAC) and analog-to-digital (ADC) converters with a >97 dB signal-to-noise ratio. The system also includes both RCA and optical S/PDIF inputs and outputs for lossless digital audio data transfer to/from DAT machines, minidisc recorders, home theater components, digital mixers, and other digital gear. Twin stereo outputs allow for dual monitoring, or the addition of headphones.
The MIDI engine includes a 64-voice Roland(TM)GS-compliant sample set, plus a second synthesizer with an additional 320 voices (64 hardware-based; 256 software synthesis-based). A 64-voice DLS (downloadable sound) sampler rounds out the MIDI features.
A substantial software suite further enhances the Montego II Home Studio. Digital Orchestrator Pro(TM) allows users to record an unlimited number of MIDI and digital audio-tracks, edit them side-by-side on the same screen, add multiple effects and transform, and mix down the entire composition in real time. The Bank Downloader(TM) permits composers to download and organize the DLS-compatible patch banks (25 banks included). AudioStation(R) 32, MIDI Orchestrator(TM) 32 and AudioView(TM) 32 bring even more MIDI and digital audio editing and playback capabilities to the PC.
The Montego II Home Studio requires a 75 MHz Pentium PC equipped with Windows 95/98/NT 4.0; 16 MB RAM; and an available PCI slot.
