The Unveiling of ConnectTV

Stellar One Corporation is eager to unveil ConnectTV, a new broadband set-top system that creates a platform for deploying interactive services like video-on-demand, high-speed Internet access, broadcast entertainment programming, and online learning on broadband networks of all types. By using Windows NT and Internet Explorer, ConnectTV enables any DHTML programmer using the myriad of available web development tools to create and deliver new interactive broadband content and services to the TV with a GUI (graphical user interface) customized for branding and services.

The ConnectTV system consists of a hardware platform, client software, a network development kit, and support and consulting services. ConnectTV is fully interoperable with public and private switched networks, for corporate and campus applications, and networks to the home. This interoperability extends to popular video-on-demand MPEG video server software offered by Microsoft, Oracle and SGI, and real time streaming MPEG video encoders offered by Minerva, Harmonic Lightwave, OptiBase, and FVC.com over IP multicast. ConnectTV also works with advanced Web-based multimedia servers, and full-featured broadband Internet access.
