Business Wire, May 27, 1999

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1999--

With its newly released June issue, MC - the leading technology marketing magazine, published by Adweek - has confirmed IDG's editorial leadership by naming more of the company's journalists to its fifth annual ranking of the "most influential technology journalists" than any other media company.

IDG journalists represented on MC's "Top Influencers" list include: PC World columinst Stephen Manes; InfoWorld editor-in-chief Sandy Reed; PC World/PC World Online editorial director Phil Lemmons; PC World editor-in-chief Cathy Baskin; CIO editor-in-chief Abbie Lundberg; Computerworld editor-in-chief Paul Gillin; The Industry Standard editor-in-chief Jonathan Weber; and Demo Letter editor-in-chief Chris Shipley.

MC's "Top Trade Journalists" list ranks influence of journalists at technology trade publications, and again IDG dominates with five of the top ten spots--more than any other company. The list features: InfoWorld's Sandy Reed, Computerworld's Paul Gillin, CIO's Abbie Lundberg; The Industry Standard's Jonathan Weber; and Network World editor-in-chief John Gallant.

The report ranks key technology industry influencers based on their public profile, external activity, visibility, publication influence and circulation; and reflects reader surveys and MC's editorial perspective. The report is published annually, and represents the 12-month period of April 1998 through March 1999.

"IDG continues to demonstrate an impressive degree of editorial leadership in the technology space," said MC editor Jeffrey O'Brien. "The Industry Standard has made a strong impact as a successful Net startup publication, and the traditional IDG powerhouses continue to thrive."

"With more top journalists on this `influencer' list than any other company, IDG illustrates its unrivaled commitment to editorial integrity, excellence and relevance," said Kelly Conlin, president and CEO of IDG. "We are proud of these journalists that are leading the way in helping our readers make critical business and technology decisions."
