ServiceWare's Rick Joslin Wins Industry Recognition, Named Recipient of the ``Service 25 Award''
Business Wire, May 4, 1999
OAKMONT, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 1999--
Rick Joslin, vice president of content development for ServiceWare Inc., has been named recipient of the 1999 Service 25 Award. In designating Mr. Joslin a winner of this recognition, the editorial team at ServiceNews magazine, the award's sponsor, cited his work in establishing student chapters for the Help Desk Institute (HDI) and "tapping into the university scene to bring new blood into the support world."
As president of the local HDI chapter in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Joslin began a grassroots effort in 1997 to promote membership in the Help Desk Institute at the university level. Doing so has helped to promote the customer support and service profession, create a more talented resource pool of prospective employees emerging from the college ranks, and called attention to the support/service discipline in academia. Working in conjunction with the parent Help Desk Institute organization, Mr. Joslin has since helped to establish other student chapters that now work closely with professionals in local HDI chapters, with a corresponding increase in HDI membership overall.
As vice president of Content Development for ServiceWare, Mr. Joslin is responsible for directing the efforts of the company's knowledge engineering team to produce its knowledge bases and content products for technical support. After joining ServiceWare in 1995, Mr. Joslin quickly rose to a senior level through his innovative efforts in enhancing both the quality and speed of delivery of the company's products, while reducing the overall cost of development. He has also been instrumental in the creation of ServiceWare's support organization.
In addition to his work on behalf of the Help Desk Institute, Mr. Joslin is an active member of the Customer Support Consortium's Multi-Vendor Support Strategy's committee. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Help Desk Professionals Association, and on the Board of Advisers for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Business College. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
