Business Wire, Nov 1, 1999
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 1, 1999--
Register.com, Inc. (www.register.com), one of the largest domain name registrars on the Internet, announced today that it has reduced prices for customized email services by more than 50%. For a limited time only, register.com customers can have personalized Web-based e-mail accounts such as mymail@mybrand.com for only $29 per year.
"Smart companies and entrepreneurs realize that creating a branded presence on the Web starts with registering the right domain name and advertising it," said Richard Forman, President and CEO of register.com. "Since email is the lifeblood of business communications, a personalized email account promotes your company's name and lets you easily keep in touch with clients. And by lowering the price for customized email, we're not only offering one of the most secure and flexible email services available, but we're also giving our customers a great value."
By using register.com email powered by USA.NET, businesses can create email addresses for employees without the hassle and expense of installing, maintaining and supporting an in-house email system. The register.com email service offers several standard service options, including a POP3 (e.g., Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Messenger) or Web interface. Since the accounts are Web based, customers can easily access their email from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.
"We know that personalized email is an essential tool for both growing and established businesses, but we also think that it's a great communications tool for individuals, families, and organizations. For example, customers can register their last name as a domain, and get a mailbox for everyone in their family," said Matt Danilchick, Project and Channel Manager at register.com. "Email is here to stay - so register.com customers can start with the only email service they will ever need."
Selected as one of the initial five companies worldwide to receive official accreditation by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), register.com was the first registrar to start registering .com, .net and .org domain names in addition to Network Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSOL).
