CAAM.com Launches Free Classic Car Auction and Classifieds Service
Business Wire, Nov 12, 1999
MONTREAL--(AutomotiveWire)--Nov. 11, 1999--
Website, Classic Automobiles and More (CAAM.com), unveiled its revolutionary free automotive auction and classified ad service last month to wide acclaim. Unlike other automotive auction sites, CAAM.com does not charge users for complete listings or to participate in the bidding process. CAAM.com has made it easier for classic car enthusiasts to buy and sell cars over the Internet by incorporating searchable listings and photos within a 1950's retro-inspired graphical user interface.
The auction and classifieds services at CAAM.com eliminate the traditional costs of selling a car such as dealer commissions, listing fees and photo fees. Because of this, vendors are flocking to the site to post their vintage vehicles and users benefit from a wider selection of cars to choose from and greater flexibility in auto prices.
"The positive response has been overwhelming," says site manager, Jason Etheridge. In its first month of operation, CAAM.com attracted over 46,000 users. Over 1000 cars have already been listed including a rare 1949 Aston Martin Logonda and the only 1938 automatic-transmission Oldsmobile Roadster in existence.
CAAM.com is well on its way to becoming the all-inclusive hub for classic car enthusiasts. CAAM.com offers, in addition to the auction and classifieds services, message boards where users can post questions, tips and requests; technical assistance from world-class classic car restorers; a large dealer directory; free enthusiast and club homepages; a club directory; a supermall of automotive products and services; event listings; news and much more. In the works is an online chat, giving buyers and sellers the ability to talk privately in real time over the Internet and facilitating the long negotiation process often associated with buying a used car.
