Bravo Celebrates Radio City Music Hall!

Business Wire, Nov 16, 1999

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1999--

"THE FUTURE OF A LEGEND: RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL"

Premieres November 17, 1999

In 1932, New York's Radio City Music Hall introduced spectacular live entertainment to the world. Rescued from near demolition by a $70 million face-lift courtesy of Cablevision Systems Corporation, Radio City was restored to its original beauty and elegance and re-opened on October 4, 1999 after a seven-month restoration. In honor of one of New York City's most popular cultural landmarks, Bravo will premiere an original, behind-the-scenes short documentary, THE FUTURE OF A LEGEND: RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL, premiering on Bravo November 17, 1999 at 6:30PM/ET and airing throughout the holiday season.

The ambitious $70 million restoration plan included the replacing and refurbishing of the 4,178-pipe Wurlitzer; a new gold silk curtain; almost 600 auditorium seats and over 6 miles of new neon in the world-famous marquee--plus, the painstaking restoration of Ezra Winter's "Fountain of Youth," the 3-story wall mural that is the focal point of the grand foyer on the ground floor.

The focus of the Bravo original short is on the technological wonders of the restored Radio City Music Hall. The restoration brought Radio City into the 21st century with the installation of innovative entertainment technology, including the capacity to present original, live productions on high definition television (HDTV). States Cablevision President and C.E.O. James Dolan, "The technical innovation here hopefully will take all that is wonderful and beautiful about Radio City and bring it right into the living rooms of those people who have the technology available to them."

Bravo, The Film and Arts Network, offers critically acclaimed American and international films as well as performing arts, including dance, theater, classical music and jazz. Bravo is available to over 40 million homes nationwide. Bravo is a division of Rainbow Media and a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporations.
