Harris & Harris Group Notes Nanophase Catalyst Production Order

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 16, 1999--
Harris & Harris Group, Inc. noted today that Nanophase Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ National Market: NANX) (www.nanophase.com) announced today that it has received its first catalyst production order. Nanophase provides engineered solutions utilizing nanocrystalline materials produced by its proprietary technology.
Harris & Harris Group owns a total of 758,016 shares, or approximately 5.9 percent of Nanophase's outstanding shares. Harris & Harris Group purchased 672,916 of these shares from Nanophase prior to Nanophase's 1997 IPO. Harris & Harris Group acquired its additional 85,100 shares of Nanophase through open market purchases.
