Scient's Bob Howe Named One of Computer Reseller News' 1999 Top Technology Executives; Scient CEO Honored Among Nation's Most Influential Business Leaders

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1999--
Scient (NASDAQ:SCNT), The eBusiness Systems Innovator(TM), today announced that Scient President and CEO Bob Howe has been named one of the "1999 Top 25 Executives" by Computer Reseller News. The award, announced in the magazine's November 15 cover story, honors 39 of the nation's leading executives (within 25 profiles) and "drew from the ranks of telecom leaders, venture capitalists, and cutting-edge solutions integrators, as well as from among the top executives of leading high-tech companies."
Howe was named "The Channel Maverick" by CRN and was awarded for "running (one) of the channel's most-watched start-ups as they create the model for deploying E-commerce solutions." The magazine proclaims Howe a "channel maverick blazing a trail in the new world of Web integration."
Howe's experience spans over 30 years in information technology, consulting and services. He has launched several successful businesses, including the IBM (NYSE:IBM) Consulting Group and Integrion, an electronic banking consortium. In addition, he managed IBM's multi-billion dollar global banking, finance and securities business, and was a member of IBM's worldwide management council. Prior to joining IBM, Howe led a distinguished career at Booz-Allen & Hamilton for 15 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Development Bank of Singapore and of Johnson Commercial, an SC Johnson company.
