QCSI, the technology leader in healthcare information solutions, Thursday announced a strategic relationship with Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ), under which QCSI will use Compaq's best-in-class computer systems to host its product suite remotely for its clients.

Both companies also are providing a combined solution for Utah-based Altius Health Plan's claims processing center.

"Compaq's experience and reputation in providing 24x7 computing, not to mention its reliability in high-volume transaction computing, is exactly what QCSI needs to remotely deliver its superior healthcare administration solutions," said Gregory S. Anderson, QCSI president and chief executive officer.

"By working together, we are able to provide a powerful solution for all health plans, regardless of their size or location."

"Today's healthcare organizations demand reliable, powerful and fast data processing around the clock to stay competitive and service their customers efficiently," said Gary Gorden, director of healthcare marketing at Compaq. "Compaq's NonStop(TM) industry-leading hardware and solutions and QCSI's robust, leading-edge software provide a winning combination that meets their e-business needs."

QCSI has been operating Altius' in-house data center using Compaq ProLiant industry-standard servers since August with impressive results.

"The joint QCSI/Compaq solution has given Altius more flexibility, and allows us to truly meet our customers' needs most efficiently and at the best price," said Larry Hancock, Altius president. "The rapid access to information these companies provide has revolutionized our company."
