Queen's MBA Tops Canadian Business Rankings for Third Straight Year; Annual Rankings Measure MBA Students' Return On Investment
Business Wire, Nov 2, 1999
KINGSTON, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 1999--
For the third consecutive year, Queen's School Of Business' MBA for Science & Technology has topped the prestigious rankings of Canadian MBA programs by Canadian Business magazine. The annual analysis measures Master of Business Administration programs across Canada to determine which schools offer the best return on a student's investment.
"Queen's School of Business is very proud to earn the top ranking among Canadian MBA programs for the third straight year," said Dr. Margot Northey, Dean of Queen's School of Business. "Not only does Queen's attract the best students, but we also help them get the best jobs -- and the numbers speak for themselves."
Canadian Business explains that it produces the rankings by calculating how much an MBA will fatten -- or trim -- a student's possible net worth seven years from the start of the program. It calculates the total income typical students will earn after enrolling in an MBA program plus any money earned during co-op or summer work terms, less tuition and fees. Then, it determines what students would have earned in the same seven-year period if they hadn't gone to business school. The difference between these figures is the typical student's return on investment.
"In addition to getting the highest quality business education in Canada, our students benefit by being out of the work force for only a year," said Dr. John Gordon, chair of Queen's MBA for Science & Technology. "Getting our grads back to work in 12 months, at a much higher salary, demonstrates our program's superior value."
Queen's MBAs can be found in a wide variety of business sectors, from consulting to biotech to telecommunications. With the skills they acquire at Queen's that build on their science and technology experience, they're attractive to companies in many different areas.
Queen's School of Business (business.queensu.ca) is rapidly growing its reputation as one of the most innovative, high-quality business schools in North America. The School's programs include: an undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce, with the highest entrance standards in Canada and a 100% success rate in placing students in the job market; Queen's MBA for Science & Technology, ranked No. 1 by Canadian Business magazine for the past three years; the market-leading Executive MBA program, Canada's first MBA program delivered by videoconference to sites from coast to coast; the Queen's Executive Development Centre, Canada's most popular university-level executive training facility; and the new MSc in Management and unique double-major PhD programs.
