EMC Corporation Adds Solaris to Growing List of Qualified Emulex Fibre Channel Host Adapter Operating Environments

LightPulse Host Adapters Are Now Available For Symmetrix Enterprise
Storage in Windows NT, AIX and Solaris Operating Environments
Emulex Corporation (Nasdaq:EMLX), an industry leader in fibre channel technology and products, announced today that EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC)(www.emc.com) has qualified the Emulex LightPulse(TM) LP8000 and LP7000E host bus adapters for use with EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems in a Sun Solaris operating environment.
The Emulex family of host adapters are now qualified for use with EMC products in Windows NT, AIX and Solaris operating environments, providing customers with a common feature set and user interface across heterogeneous storage area networks (SANs).

Emulex LightPulse Products
Emulex has a broad family of fibre channel products designed to address the needs of both mission-critical enterprise applications and direct connect storage links. The market-leading LP8000, a 64-bit PCI-based host adapter, provides a unique combination of features required for mission-critical enterprise applications, including full fabric support using F_Port and FL_Port connections, high data integrity, full-duplex operation, data buffering to support up to 100km cabling, and support for all fibre channel topologies and service classes 2 and 3. The LP8000 features a GBIC or embedded physical interface, providing customers with flexibility to support a full range of cabling options, including copper, multi-mode fiber or single-mode fiber.
The recently introduced LP8000S enables Emulex to provide fibre channel connectivity to open storage suppliers that sell storage for Sun Microsystems S-Bus systems. Based on the LP8000, this adapter provides leading performance and features for S-Bus systems.
The Emulex fibre channel family also includes our high-performance LP7000E PCI host bus adapter, the open-server LP850 PCI host bus adapter, the price-performance optimized LP3000 PCI host bus adapter and the industry's first digital re-timing and fully managed hub, the LightPulse LH5000 series.
Emulex host adapters are supported by a rich suite of software, providing support for storage protocol (SCSI), network protocol (IP), as well as multi-protocol (SCSI & IP) operation, enabling the advanced SAN and network applications.
