The Internet Analyst News — IPOs Online: Bringing New Issues to Everyone
Business Wire, Oct 15, 1999
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1999--
W.R. Hambrecht, the underwriter whose online bidding system is designed to bring IPOs to the average investor, is back in the pipeline with its third deal.
The first issuer to go public through W.R. Hambrecht's Open IPO system was Ravenswood Winery (Nasdaq:RVWD) on April 9. Using the system, the online magazine Salon.com (Nasdaq:SALN) completed its offering in late June.
He said that, through the Open IPO program, his Internet company was able to go public within its published price range, at a time when other Internet companies like Ivillage (Nasdaq:IVIL) and C/Net (Nasdaq:CNET) were down 30%. Salon.com (Nasdaq:SALN) sold its shares at $10.50, the low end of its range, and generated $25 million in proceeds.
Breakaway Solutions (Nasdaq:BWAY), DSL.net (DSLN), Digital Insight (Nasdaq:DGIN), Loislaw.com (Nasdaq:LOIS) and Radware (Nasdaq:RDWR) are among this week's Internet IPOs.
