Toshiba Offers Multimedia and Other SLI Cores From Sican Microelectronics; Partnership Enables Rapid Design of DVD, Set-Top Box and Cable Modem SLI ASICs

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 1999--

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today announced the availability of cores resulting from a licensing agreement with Sican Microelectronics Corporation as part of TAEC's system-level integration (SLI) development capability.

Under the agreement, Toshiba's SLI ASIC customers now have access to the extensive library of Sican's industry-leading intellectual property (IP) cores, including cores for communications and multimedia applications. This agreement will also benefit Sicans's customers by enabling them to quickly and easily develop products that can utilize Toshd get chips out the door on time without compromises in specifications," stated Peter Richmond, director of SLI business development at TAEC. "We are delighted to partne" said Jeff Berkman, vice president of SLI engimore than 70 DesignObjects(TM), which covers applications in the fields of set-top boxes, communications, consumer, multimedia and peripheral interfaces.

The cores range in complexity from 750 gates to more than 1.5 million gates undreds of core and cell options from its own proprietary developments and from other third-party providers, including Alcatel, Phoenix Technologies, EnThink, and Rambus Inc.
