BUY.COM Announces Former Disney Executive Named CFO; Mitch C. Hill Brings Worldwide Financial, Information Technology and Business Development Expertise to the Company
Business Wire, Oct 19, 1999
ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 1999--
BUY.COM, a leading internet retailer and e-commerce portal site, today announced that Mitch C. Hill, a former senior executive at Disney, has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer, effective November 1.
Hill will replace Allen C. Barbieri, who recently resigned from the position of CFO for personal reasons.
Hill joins BUY.COM from the Glendale-based Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Division, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Imagineering is responsible for the creation -- from concept through installation -- of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues and certain new media projects. In addition, WDI serves as the research and development arm of Disney.
"Buy.com's value proposition for consumers is compelling," said Hill. "The company's continued growth prospects, long-term business strategy and key product offerings are also very exciting. I look forward to working with Buy.com and its associates."
During his tenure, Hill had responsibility for worldwide finance and accounting, contracts and procurement, information technology and business development, including management of such functions for multi-billion dollar theme park projects in Orlando, Anaheim, Paris and Tokyo. As an 8-year Disney veteran, Hill served as CFO over an extensive list of projects including Disney's Animal Kingdom and California Adventure theme parks, Tokyo DisneySea, DisneyQuest, the New Amsterdam Theatre, Times Square Studios, two Disney cruise ships and The Celebration Company. Additionally, Hill was responsible for the creation and implementation of Disney's worldwide corporate real estate strategy.
"This is an exciting time for BUY.COM," said Greg Hawkins, CEO of BUY.COM. "Hill's extensive business, financial and brand expertise will be an important addition to our executive team as we continue to build our rapidly growing business and expand our presence in the growing Internet marketplace".
Prior to Disney, Hill worked in real estate investment banking and principal investments at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York and Los Angeles. Hill received a MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and earned BS from Brigham Young University.
The CFO search was completed by Dudley Brown with the executive search firm BridgeGate, LLC in Irvine, Calif.. For more information visit www.bridgegate.com.
