Holiday Inn-Tampa Wins Design Award

Business Wire, Oct 20, 1999

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1999--

The Holiday Inn-Tampa, Busch Gardens, Fla., operated by Dallas-based Bristol Hotels & Resorts(R), has won a "Year's Best Design" award from Lodging Hospitality magazine. More than 100 entrants participated in the seventh annual awards, which were unveiled in the magazine's September 1999 issue.

The Holiday Inn-Tampa won the award for best midscale pool. Harris Design of Dallas and Jonathan Nehmer & Associates created a "kids theme" to work with the existing 50's-styled gazebo. The designers constructed a new pool, including a pirate ship water attraction with slides, water cannons and mushroom waterfalls. The pool and newly landscaped courtyard flow seamlessly into the restaurant and bar. Specially noted by the contest judges were the project's originality, timeliness and functionality.

Other Bristol winners included the Allerton Crowne Plaza, Chicago, Ill; the Holiday Inn-Knoxville Central, Tenn; and, the Holiday Inn-Nikki Bird Resort, Kissimmee, Fla.
